For the last 30 years WSPA-AM's Bill Drake has reigned as Spartanburg's most popular radio personality as well as a most persuasive emissary for businesses in the Spartanburg area. His show, "Awake With Drake," now airs on 103.3FM WOLT Monday - Friday from 5 AM to 9 AM! From 9 AM to 10 AM weekdays, Bill interviews community leaders. Bill starts the morning on a great note as he tells what's going on in Spartanburg in his own inimitable style. Listeners look to him for the information they need, from what schools & businesses are closing in inclement weather to who his interesting guest will be at noon. You'll hear regular guests like city mayors, local legislators, educators, accountants, authors, policemen, veterinarians, pastors and much more. Bill has his finger on the pulse of what's happening in the Spartanburg community. We call it "Relationship Radio."

Facts About Bill Drake:

He was a fraternity brother of actor, Harrison Ford.
He sang in a barbershop quartet with Al Jarreau.
His brother directed major TV showslike Night Court & Dave's World.
He covered sports during the VinceLombardi era in Green Bay, WI.
He's a three-time winner of the SC Radio Personality of the Year award.
In 2004 he was presented with The Order of the Palmetto, SC's highest Award.
Since 1959, this Chicago native has been a Radio & TV personality, interviewer, sports play-by-play announcer, after-dinner speaker, lay preacher and the man who invented the 36-hour day!
Arriving in Spartanburg in 1976 Bill has been involved not only on the local airwaves, but in many community activities, including serving as Board Chairman of the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium.
Since 1980, Bill's been the Producer & Executive Director of the annual BILL DRAKE CHRISTMAS MUSIC FESTIVAL.
Bill is the PA Announcer for 35 Wofford College Sports events. And at the University of South Carolina Upstate, he is an adjunct professor in Public Speaking.
Bill & his wife, Judy, an RN at HOSPICE-SRMC, are parents of three children and have one grandson.Bill was chosen Distinguished Alumnus of the Year by his alma mater, Ripon College in Wisconsin in 1994.
He attends St. John's Lutheran Church and sings in their choir.Finally…Bill hasn't worked since 1959, as his job is his passion and hobby along with walking 2 to 5 miles a day!
